Prior to 2017, OCAD University’s semi-annual convocation ceremony was using printed vouchers and complicated in person workflows and a cheaper, more efficient system was required. In response to this need, an integrated ticketing system was created.
The system accepts data from the university’s Student Information System and generates designed digital tickets and personalized digital invitations. These single use digital tickets can then be scanned at the door and recorded for metrics after the event.

Backend UI for generating and sending tickets in advance, via existing Student Information System, with manual interventions throughout for confirmation.
Integrated QR reader for scanning tickets at the event to reduce duplication/fraud. Students have a preset number of tickets issued and are tied to SIS accounts.
As a companion to the digital ticketing system, an iOS app was created to facilitate the ticket scanning, verification and on the spot admission.
